It was the sweetest moment.
I sat with Pat Morgan in her backyard feasting on a caprese salad she made for the both of us. I was interviewing her about growing figs for this story. As we talked she told me how much she enjoyed a column I wrote about my lifelong connection to bulbs like daffodils and how the garden acts as a place for healing. Here’s the column.
That’s when she pulled out a little piece of paper filled with lyrics for Seven Daffodils by The Brothers Four.
The semi-retired church organist sang it to me, it was such a touching thing for her to do.
