Flowers in the snow

It is always a sweet surprise when early spring bulbs emerge, but simply amazing to see them covered in soft snow. The purple flower buds are closed tight awaiting another day to be the stars in the garden.

You have to wonder what a snow crocus or snowdrop get out of blooming in late winter. In the case of the crocus, will it be tough enough to endure the bitter temperatures forecasted? They usually are if they can survive four legged pests desperate for a snack. Maybe they are here to tease us or give us hope for the gardening season. What every it is, I’m always glad to see them either with or without snow.

Snowdrops are aptly named and will shake off the cold. They put on quite a show on this snowy morning.

Snowdrops are indestructible and laugh off the cold. They are magnificent poking through a blanket of snow. Nothing will stop them now, regardless of how cold it gets.

Standing over snowdrops and snow crocus makes me smile, knowing what’s to come.

Mother Nature is amazing!
