Hummingbird Hawk Moth working one of the Obedient Plants ( Physostegia virginiana ). The Obedient plants will spread like wildfire and take over any bed they are planted in. But they are such an important food source for pollinators and one of the last plants to survive even the early frost. I grow them in a 60′ bed ( isolated from the other perennials ) along a section of split rail fence. Just recently I’ve moved a few into a wildflower meadow area ( 3/4 acre ) we’re establishing near one of the ponds.
