Top 10 berries for birds from Birds and Bloom magazine

I love planting for the birds. Last fall I added viburnum ‘Chicago Lustre’ to the landscape as it produces pretty blue berries for the birds. Unfortunately the deer love them too and ate all of the plump fruit. Since then, I’m spraying the plant with Bobbex to keep the deer at bay.

Viburnum 'Chicago Lustre' was one of the shrubs Doug found on sale this time last season. It blooms in the early summer then puts on pretty purple berries that the birds (and deer) love.

There are lots of other plants that the birds enjoy for their berries. It’s important to lure them to the garden as they will feed on pests during the summer months. They are fun to watch too.

Birds and Bloom Magazine is one of my favorite and have compiled a great list of of plants including flowering crabapple, serviceberry

Here’s the complete list.
