The fun and beauty of orchids at Phipps

I arrived an hour early to Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. I was there to shoot a video for KDKA’s Pittsburgh Today Live. The photographer would be there soon, but I wanted a chance to explore the conservatory with my camera during the Orchid and Tropical Bonsai Show.
The timing was perfect as the sun would appear for 20 minutes and then hide behind the clouds. It’s so much fun to take a close look at the amazing details of the blooms. The Orchid Room has always been one of my favorite places and it was filled with unique varieties.
There is something very cathartic about walking the conservatory, camera in hand. These are my favorite photos from the day, check out the last one I found as I left walked out of the front door.
