A red bellied woodpecker flies off with a peanut from a birdfeeder. Woodpeckers and other birds can be attracted to the landscape by offering water, food and shelter.

On Sunday Dec. 4, 2016 I’ll be joined by radio partner and fellow Trib columnist Jessica Walliser at three Giant Eagle Market District stores for our free monthly gardening and cooking demonstration. We’ll present “How to Bring Birds to Your Landscape.” Then they will cook a “holiday inspired” lasagna for everyone to taste. We have free seeds to giveaway courtesy of Hahn Nursery, gift certificates to Soergel Orchards and free passes to the Winter Flower Show at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. We’ll be at the Bethel Park GEMD at 9:30am, then the Waterworks store at 12 noon and finally in Pine at 2:30 p.m.
